Edutainment - don't just educate your audience, also entertain them. By injecting fun into your presentation, you make it more memorable for your attendees.
Provide quality handouts with take-home value by including in-depth information beyond what is in your presentation.
Turn the Tables - Two parts to this important rule!
1) Encourage participants to learn from one another.
2) Be your audience.
Think about what keeps your mind engaged when you’re the attendee.
PowerPoint should be used as a tool to suppliment your presentation, not as a crutch. YOU are the reason the audience is sitting there, not your slides.
Prepare, prepare, prepare - communicate and coordinate with co-presenters; if possible, arrive in San Francisco the day prior to your session; check out your program room before your presentation.
Spread the word and do supplemental marketing of your session (i.e. tell your friends, colleagues and clients, post it on your website, mention it in your newsletters, etc.).
Begin and end your session on time.
Don't turn off your audience by engaging in self promotion. Attendees react strongly to anything they perceive as a sales pitch.
Get creative with your content, delivery, and presentation format.
